A Passion for the Arts
Calista Yang Huiru born 2002 is exploring paintings in a multimedia manner that seeks new presentation of traditional methods. Currently working with surrealism to bring imaginations alive, her work touches on issues with mental health and the stigma surrounding the LGBTQ community using metaphorical objects like glass to represent fragility and earthy colours to bring a sense of grounding to the audience. The subject matters are related to notions of lost, interactions, negotiations and acceptance . After being introduced to video art during her diploma in fine arts at LaSalle , calista’s interest in incorporating Music and Audio dialogue sparked. Henceforth apart from paintings she also works with video and audio Art.
